This is Rwanda's most iconic drive. Head southwest from Kigali through Huye (home to the National Museum) and continue to Nyungwe National Park. The road through Nyungwe's ancient rainforest is breathtaking — towering trees, misty canopy, and the chance to spot colobus monkeys from your car.

Continue west to Cyangugu on Lake Kivu's southern shore, then drive north along the lake to Karongi or Rubavu. The lakeside road is one of Africa's most beautiful, with views across the water to the DRC.
